WHAT IS A CONDOMINIUM

What is a condominium?

A condominium is also referred to as a condo. A condominium is a building that is divided into smaller units that are individually owned, but common areas are jointly owned. For example – a society that has several buildings containing various houses. Now, these houses are individually owned by people; but the other spaces such as gardens, play areas, gyms are all jointly owned by everyone.

Pros and Cons of Condominiums

Pros

  1. Flexible lifestyle: Condominiums are perfect for individuals who prefer to live a flexible life without restrictions. Remember, you are the owner of the unit and there are no restrictions on your lifestyle in a condominium.
  2. More affordable: Condominiums are also beneficial for individuals who want to lower the cost of owning a house. Condominiums are cheaper than independent houses and make a great purchase for first-time home owners.
  3. Good connectivity with business centers and several modes of entertainment: One of the most unique features of condominiums is that they are located close to business centers and popular hubs of a locality. Thus, the owners benefit from great connectivity and have access to the several forms of entertainment prevalent in the locality.
  4. Wide range of amenities: Most condominiums have a wide range of amenities that include a swimming pool, rooftops, and fitness centers. Thus, the residents need not move out of their complex in search of these amenities.
  5. Great security: Condominiums have great security and prevent the chances of theft or intruders barging into the property. Most condos have several security technologies to maintain the safety of the residents.

Cons

The following are the disadvantages of condominiums:

  1. Lack of extra space: In condos, you do not get extra space like a backyard or a garden that you solely own. This is a disadvantage especially for families with children or pets who need to play in the backyard.
  2. Limited parking area: Condominiums have limited parking areas. This can be an issue if you have guests invited as their parking might be chargeable.
  3. Restrictions on pets: Most condos have restrictions on keeping pets. Even though certain condos allow pets within the premises, there might be restrictions on the number of pets you own and their breed.
